Marcelo & Paula Urtado represent the 4th generation of coffee-growing in their family, having started by working on the family-owned farm for a few years before venturing into pursuing their own careers. Marcelo is an agronomist and Paula is a zootechnician, and their wealth of experience allowed them to choose the perfect conditions for cultivation when they decided to return and follow their dream of establishing their own coffee farm in the Cerrado.
Fazenda Tres Meninas, named as a tribute to the three women of their family (Paula and their two daughters), remains focused on delivering quality coffee to their commercial partnerships whilst aligning with sustainability goals for the region. The farm is certified as having a Low Carbon Footprint, and the Urtado family is proud to maintain a negative carbon balance, and contribute to the biodiversity and water availability of the region.
At Dino’s, we found out about Fazenda Tres Meninas when Alex’s husband Chris proudly brought home a Tres Meninas branded golden cup that his colleagues at Volcafe UK were gifted during their trip to the Volcafe Santos office. The family-owned farm's story of sustainability aligned closely with our values and goals, and once an exceptional lot of Yellow Topazio became available to purchase a year later, we knew we had to include them in our roster.
We hope you enjoy them as much as we do, and we look forward to sharing more details with you in the future about Fazenda Tres Meninas, and about Paula & Marcelo Urtado’s initiatives.
